770G and 772G Off-Highway Truck: Fan Drive Troubleshooting


Verify that the Fan Drive is ON

The fan drive may be turned ON or the fan drive may be turned OFF through the Electronic Technician (ET). When the Fan drive is ON, the fan drive is in a variable speed mode. When the fan drive is OFF, the fan drive is in the locked up mode.
Locking up the fan drive can verify that the fan drive is mechanically sound and hydraulically sound. In order to change the mode of the fan drive, use ET and the procedure that follows:

  1. After connecting with ET, select the engine ECM.

  1. Select the tool configuration icon.

  1. After selecting the tool configuration icon, select the "ECM Configuration Parameters".

  1. Select the "Engine Fan Control" with a double click.

  1. Select the drop-down menu next to the value. Select the "ON" parameter in order to enable the engine fan control. Ensure that the new value reads "ON". Select the "OK" button.

  1. Select "YES" in order to enable the engine fan control.
