777F Off-Highway Truck Power Train: Oil Filter (Torque Converter Lockup Clutch), Oil Filter (Torque Converter Charging) & Screen (Hydraulic Tank)




1.-Oil Filter (Torque Converter Lockup Clutch)

The oil filter for the torque converter lockup clutch (6) is located on the left side of the frame assembly behind the front wheel.
The supply section of the gear pump for torque converter lockup sends the oil to the oil filter for the torque converter lockup clutch (6) .
Oil flows through inlet passage (1). The oil fills the space between the inside of the housing and the element. During normal operation, the oil flows through the element and out outlet passage (2) to the modulating valve for the torque converter lockup clutch and the pilot system for the hoist control. A relief valve for the pilot control pressure limits the maximum pressure of this supply oil. During normal operation, the element stops any debris that is in the oil.
If the element becomes full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil cause a pressure increase inside the housing. The pressurized oil activates bypass switch (5) and an alarm is registered in the cab.
The oil then flows past the open bypass valve and to the modulating valve for the torque converter lockup clutch and the pilot system for the hoist control valve. When the oil does not flow through the element, the debris in the oil will cause damage to other components in the lockup clutch for the torque converter and the pilot system for the hoist control valve.
Use correct maintenance in order to make sure that the element does not become full of debris. If the element is full of debris, the flow of clean oil to the lockup clutch for the torque converter and the pilot system for the hoist control valve is stopped.


2.-Oil Filter (Torque Converter Charging)

Charging oil filter (1) is fastened to the side of the frame assembly. The oil flows from the hydraulic tank to the pump section for torque converter charging. The oil then flows from the pump section for torque converter charging to the oil filter for torque converter charging.
Oil flows into inlet line (2). The oil then fills the space between the inside of housing (4), screen assembly (7) and filter elements (6). During normal operation, the oil flows through filter elements (6) and through outlet line (3). The oil then flows to the torque converter.
Screen assembly (7) and filter elements (6) stop any debris that is in the oil.
If the filter elements (6) become full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil causes the pressure to rise inside the housing. The pressurized oil causes bypass valve (5) to move against the force of spring (7).
Correct maintenance must be used to be certain that filter elements (6) do not become full of debris. Debris in filter elements (6) will stop the flow of clean oil to the hydraulic system.

3.-Screen (Hydraulic Tank)

(1) Screen for the transmission
(2) Screen for the torque converter
(3) Screen for the hoist and brake(4) Screen for the auxiliary brake
During normal operation, oil flows through the screens to the pumps. The hydraulic tank screens collect the debris that is in the oil.
Correct maintenance must be used in order to make sure that the screen does not become full of debris.
