773E and 775E Off-Highway Truck Hydraulic System: Hydraulic Tank (Hoist and Brake) & Gear Pump (Hoist and Brake)

Hydraulic Tank (Hoist and Brake)

(1) Hoist and brake hydraulic tank
(2) Air breather
(3) Sight gauge(4) Sight gauge
Hoist and brake hydraulic tank (1) is located on the outside of the right side of the frame. Hoist and brake hydraulic tank (1) supplies oil to the brakes, to the brake cooling system, and to the hoist hydraulics. Air breather (2) for the hydraulic tank is located on top of hoist and brake hydraulic tank (1) .
Hoist and brake hydraulic tank (1) has two sight gauges. Sight gauge (3) is generally used for checking the oil level. Sight gauge (4) can be used when the hoist cylinders are in the RAISE position. See the Operation and Maintenance Manual for lubrication viscosities and for refill capacities for hoist and brake hydraulic tank (1) .

Tank Ports

(5) Return port for brake cooling
(6) Screen
(7) Drain port for the brake makeup oil tank
(8) Return port for the hoist control valve
(9) Suction port for the parking brake release section of the secondary steering and brake electric drive pump
(10) Drain port for the parking and secondary brake control valve
(11) Return port for the towing diverter valve
(12) Suction port for the hoist and brake gear pump
(13) Screen(14) Drain port for the lip seal case of the parking brake

Gear Pump (Hoist and Brake)

Hoist and brake gear pump
(1) Hoist pump section(2) Brake pump section
The hoist and brake gear pump is a two-section gear pump. Hoist pump section (1) and brake pump section (2) make up the hoist and brake gear pump.
Oil from the hoist and brake hydraulic tank flows to the hoist and brake gear pump. Hoist pump section (1) then pumps oil to the hoist control valve. The hoist control valve will send pump oil to one of two locations. When the dump body is being raised or lowered, the hoist cylinders receive the oil. If the hoist is not being used, the oil flows to the oil cooling system for the rear brakes.
Brake pump section (2) will send oil to two locations. Some of the oil is sent to the hoist proportioning solenoids on the hoist control valve. This is pilot oil that is used to move the spool in the hoist control valve. Most of the oil is sent to the parking and secondary brake valve. This oil is used to release the parking brakes on the rear wheels. There is a relief valve in the parking and secondary brake valve. When the pressure of the oil reaches the relief setting, the relief valve will open. Oil will be sent to the oil cooling system for the rear brakes.
