Moto's New Bike

"Super Scooters" are all the rage in Japan. Complete with oversized exhausts, these colourfully extravagant 250cc scooters are the ultimate accessory for the Japanese teenager.
Designed and created by such brands as Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda, the customized bikes are set to take the world by storm- for those who can afford one, anyway.
Some of these grounded spaceships can cost as much as $45,000. Matsushita Hisashi, editor of Customer Scooter magazine, said: "This tendency appeared in the second half of the 1990s and it has been growing ever since.
"A comedy star of Japanese television, George Tokoro, was one of the first to ride a tuned scooter. Prior to that, scooters were associated with older folk." Hisashi said the type of people buying the bikes vary, but hover between mechanics, delivery drivers and "lots of girls". Easy-to-use and modify, the craze boomed after large manufacturers such as Yamaha caught onto the growing appeal of a super-scooter offering customised versions of their own scooters.
