797B Off-Highway Truck: Electrical Component and Connector Locations

Component Location
(1) Brake/Cooling ECM
(2) Chassis ECM
(3) Transmission ECM(4) VIMS ECM

The following components are located in the rear compartment of the cab: The Brake/Cooling ECM (1), the Chassis ECM (2), the Transmission ECM (3) and the VIMS Main Module (4) .

The engine control and these electronic controls can communicate with each other through the CAT Data Link. Information from these electronic controls can be accessed through the VIMS message center by using the Electronic Technician (ET) and/or VIMS PC software on a laptop computer.

(6) Diagnostic service tool connector for VIMS PC(7) Diagnostic service tool connector for the ET

The following references should be used to locate the electrical components and connectors: the Electrical System Schematic, the Parts Manual and the Operation and Maintenance Manual.

The following information is a guideline to reading: the charts for Harness Connectors, the charts for Component Locations, the area views and the machine profile. All of these components can be found on the back of the Electrical System Schematic.

Component Location Chart : - The component location chart uses white circles as location labels in the machine profile and area views. The alphabetical letters that are in the column for the machine location indicate a general area of the machine. See the corresponding footnote at the end of the chart for a description of the location.

Harness Connector Location Chart: - The "Harness Connector Location" table uses white circles to mark the locations in the general view and in the area views. Alphabetical letters in the "Machine Location" column indicate a general area of the machine. Refer to the footnote at the end of the table for a description of the location.
